The 50s were a time of fun and cheerfulness after the war ended. You hear the 50's and probably think of the movie Grease. The music from this time period was fun. There were fast songs for a man to swing a girl to and ballads for those slow dances. Some of the biggest names in crooners came from the 50's. Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como. The list goes on and on. So what makes 50's music such a vibe to listen to?
I feel like the music from this decade is upbeat and wholesome compared to Today's music. I don't mean to offend anyone but the music of today is basically all the same. Same back beats. same themes. I could go on and on. Most songs today are about sex, drugs, girls and money. Maybe some of us want to have Frank Sinatra singing about love and marriage or The Chords singing about life being a dream. Some of us want to belong to a different decade. Maybe we don't quite fit in to this one. If you are one of those people, don't worry, I'm with ya.
Some of the songs I love from this decade are:
Sh Boom by The Chords- What a fun song to drive to. Used in the movie Cars, this song is just perfect to have a Sunday drive to.
Beyond The Sea by Bobby Darin- Makes me feel like I'm a Flight Attendant.
Tutti Frutti by Little Richard- While we don't exactly know what Tutti Frutti is, we do know this song is full of fun vibes and is a great one to dance to.
Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry- From the guy who sings Run Run Rudolph, we have Johnny B. Goode. Filled with guitar and rock and roll, this song is a fun one to rock out to.
Jailhouse Rock by Elvis Presley- A Classic. Rock and Roll guitar with piano and Elvis's Classic vocals adds so much to this song. Makes me want to go out dancing.
Come Fly With Me by Frank Sinatra- Ah yes the classic Crooner voice. Frank Sinatra has that unique sound to his voice.
